Balancing Act on the Salt Flats
Did you know that Utah has a beautiful, hidden photography spot?
Not too far from Salt Lake City, either. I've done the whole BYU college student thing 4 years now, gotten a Utah license, and just filed my Utah state taxes and never noticed this reflective oasic until last week. We were on our way to the Golden Gate along Interstate 80 when I kept seeing pebble names and rocky love letting along this sandy, flat road. "That's where the fastest car records have been broken," my husband said. I wanted him to pull over so I could make a pebble letter.
"Next to speeding cars? Not too safe." he said.
Luckily, there was a rest stop ahead that looked like it was build mainly for landscape enthusiasts who need a safe place to pose for pictures. There was also a bathroom, which was nice.
Jacob jumped out and did this Karate Kid kick and I went, "click... click, click".
A man walked up to us and said, "Say, I like what you're doing there. Mind if you take a picture of me? I'm up here on a Sunday drive." Those Sunday drives were a usual for him. He told us how his mom passed away just up the road where she fell asleep. "This was the last beautiful thing she saw before she died. She loved beautiful things and so I come up here to remember her." And what a beautiful place it was.
